BEHIND-THE-SCENES AT THE NASHVILLE ZOO
One of my favorite parts about life: animals. Naturally, this means I'm a fan of one of our community's greatest family-friendly locales, the Nashville Zoo. Recently I discovered what may be the greatest revelation for me in 2017: you can take behind-the-scenes tours of this magical place! What does this mean?
- Private guides to answer any and all questions you might have.
- A 90 minute tour -- going behind the gates. See the commissary, giraffe barn, clydesdales, and more.
- YOU GET TO FEED THE GIRAFFES (yes, you read this correctly).
- Visit rare species not on display at the zoo -- including the okapi and bongo.
The tour I partook upon was called the Backstage Pass, which has a maximum of 9 people total in the group. In addition to the details mentioned above, you learn about the animals' care, behavior, and conservation, and shown areas not available to the general public. You can reserve your spot online (recommended) or at the ticket booth. Cost is $40 per person.
